Wayne Bennett has weighed in on the current 'tragedy' at Souths, addressing the rumors swirling around coach Jason Demetriou and the potential takeover at the Rabbitohs.
Reports from news.com.au suggest that Demetriou may soon be given the boot by Souths, possibly to be replaced by legendary Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga.
Bennett, who previously led the Rabbitohs from 2019 to 2021, is rumored to be the frontrunner to return to the club next season.
In response, Bennett has staunchly defended Demetriou, his former protege, while also maintaining that he is unsure about his own future beyond this season with the Dolphins.
"I have no idea what's happening over at Souths, so I won't speculate on something I'm not fully informed about," Bennett told reporters.
"I'm committed to seeing out the season here and haven't made any decisions about my next move yet."
In typical sporting fashion, Bennett remains tight-lipped and focused on the game at hand, refusing to let the rumors distract him from the task ahead.
The coaching carousel in Rugby League continues to spin, with the Rabbitohs facing a pivotal moment in their season and potentially in their coaching staff as well.
