Wests Tigers have solidified their commitment to head coach Benji Marshall by extending his contract until the end of 2030, demonstrating significant support for him amid the club's ongoing turmoil.

This announcement coincides with a hectic period for the Tigers, marked by the appointment of Shaun Mielekamp as interim CEO following Shane Richardson's sudden departure.

In just 11 days, the Tigers have dismissed over half of their board, experienced a CEO resignation, invited back previous board members, and now reaffirmed Marshall's role as coach.

The extension of Marshall's contract is aimed at providing stability within the club, and discussions regarding this renewal were already underway before the return of the board members last Thursday.

Tigers officials hope that this move will also aid in retaining key players like Jarome Luai and Jahream Bula, who have the option to explore opportunities elsewhere for the 2027 season and beyond.

The decision also reflects the club's considerable faith in the 40-year-old coach, despite his teams finishing 17th and 13th in the league during his two seasons in charge, with signs of marked improvement seen in 2025.
