Benji Marshall hits back after shocking accusations thrown at Wests Tigers NRL coach

The skipper of the Tigers was less than impressed following the allegations surrounding his work ethic.

Benji Marshall has responded to reports questioning his dedication as the new head honcho of the Wests Tigers as his team gears up for their season opener.

With the Tigers receiving a bye in the first NRL round, Marshall had an additional week to whip his team into shape in his debut season as head coach.

Marshall faces a mammoth task in reviving the struggling club, and the ex-player didn't take kindly to a recent Daily Telegraph article suggesting he was lagging behind in arriving at training sessions, hinting that he might soon find himself in the coaching wilderness.

Firing back ahead of the showdown against Canberra this Saturday, Marshall vehemently refuted the allegations.

"You don't rack up 347 games with a lackadaisical attitude," Marshall retorted when questioned about his work ethic.

"As we're on the cusp of the inaugural match under my helm, having not officially coached a game, it's disheartening.

I wasn't looking to defend my methods, but it irks me when falsehoods are spread."
