Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall has publicly endorsed captain Api Koroisau as the key player for the club's future, stating, "We're putting the eggs into Api's basket." This comes as 20-year-old hooker Tallyn Da Silva faces potential departure due to interest from multiple clubs, seeking more first-grade playing opportunities.
Da Silva, a local junior, is set to come off the bench against Manly on Friday and could leave before the June 30 transfer deadline.
Despite both players being signed through 2026, Marshall emphasized the challenge of retaining players who want more game time, noting that Da Silva "does want to be here." However, Marshall reiterated his commitment to prioritizing Koroisau, dispelling any notion of conflict with club CEO Shane Richardson over the situation.
"The plan from the beginning is what we've executed, and nothing has changed," he explained.
