Ben Hunt, the current Dragons captain, has clarified his plans for the 2024 season but remains uncertain about his future with the club in 2025.
Hunt's management had requested a release earlier this year, indicating his desire to return to Queensland.
However, the 33-year-old halfback, who has been with St George Illawarra since 2018, signed a contract extension last year that would keep him at the club until 2025.
Despite the initial uncertainty, Hunt has now confirmed that he will be staying with the Dragons for the 2024 season after a positive meeting with incoming coach Shane Flanagan.
He stated, "I'll be at the Dragons.
I've had a few conversations with 'Flanno' so that's where I'll be." Hunt also mentioned that he recently had a catch-up with Flanagan and will be meeting with him again in the coming days to discuss further plans.
The Dragons star's future has been under constant scrutiny since his manager's release request, leading to tense press conferences.
However, with his commitment to the team for the upcoming year, the focus now shifts to the following season and whether Hunt will continue as captain beyond 2024.
