Craig Bellamy has shared an optimistic update regarding injured Storm forward Shawn Blore, amidst concerns he may miss the remainder of the NRL season. Last Tuesday, Melbourne announced that Blore suffered a fractured larynx during the match against the Roosters and will not participate in the upcoming game against the Broncos on Thursday night.

The Storm is uncertain about Blore's recovery timeline, but 'NRL Physio' Brien Seeney provided grim news on social media, indicating that typical recovery periods range from one to three months, suggesting a possibility that Blore's season could be over.

If Melbourne advances to the grand final, it will have been five weeks since Blore's injury. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Bellamy mentioned that Blore underwent surgery but expressed hope that the situation is not as dire as initially thought.

"He got a knock to his larynx and he's actually split it," the coach noted. "But we had a little bit of good news earlier in the week as they thought they'd have to operate, you know, like a major operation, but they don't, although I think he's had minor surgery."

"I'm not quite sure how long before he'll be back or if he'll be back, and I'm not quite sure the medical people know either - it's just a little bit of a suck-it-and-see thing and just see how he goes. But certainly it was better news than earlier in the week when we thought he'd be out for the rest of the season."

Despite the positive outlook, Bellamy's uncertainty does little to alleviate worries among Storm fans. Blore has established himself as a vital player for the Storm after transferring from the Wests Tigers in 2024. He has played 22 games this season and has become a dependable 80-minute back-rower.
