"We're not throwing in the towel just yet," said Rabbitohs veteran Damien Cook as he geared up for a tough run ahead.

The team faced a setback last year, missing out on the finals after a dismal slide down the ladder.

But they're ready to rewrite their story and claw their way back into the top eight.

It seemed like a lost cause at the halfway mark of the season, with just one win in their first 10 games.

Coach Jason Demetriou got the boot after last year's disaster, but the return of key players like Latrell Mitchell sparked a miraculous turnaround.

Five wins in a row put them within striking distance of the finals, only for their hopes to take a hit with a recent loss to the Dolphins.

Mitchell's foot injury adds another hurdle to their path to glory, as they realistically need to win seven of their remaining eight matches to have a shot at the finals.

While they still have to face the top dogs, they've got four winnable games on the horizon, including a showdown with the struggling Wests Tigers.

"We've still got a lot of belief in ourselves," Cook declared, with the Rabbitohs looking to channel their fighting spirit and push through the tough challenges ahead.

It's do or die time for the team as they gear up for a brutal run home in their quest for finals glory.
