The Burleigh Bears have triumphed in the Mal Meninga Cup, adding to their earlier success in the Cyril Connell Cup.
They faced the Redcliffe Dolphins in an intense Grand Final that featured two halves of Golden Point, highlighting the competitive nature of the match.
Both teams were considered evenly matched; however, the Bears boasted more experience, having lost in the Grand Final the previous year.
The Dolphins opened the scoring with a try from centre Seth Carpenter, leading 4-nil within the first five minutes.
After this early momentum, the game settled into a defensive battle, with neither side able to add to the score in the first half as both teams showcased strong defensive efforts.
As the second half commenced, the stadium atmosphere remained subdued due to the gritty play.
However, excitement surged when Bears' winger Disharne Tohini scored twice in quick succession, putting the Bears ahead 8-4 and reigniting the crowd's energy.
This victory marks a significant achievement for the Bears, further solidifying their status in junior rugby league.
