Mal Meninga has announced that Ben Gardiner is a potential candidate for the coaching staff of the new NRL expansion team, the Perth Bears.
Gardiner, currently an assistant coach for the Penrith Panthers and head coach for Samoa, was previously linked to the head coaching job at St Helens RLFC.
Meninga confirmed Gardiner's consideration following his recent appointment as head coach of the Bears.
Gardiner stepped into the lead assistant role at Penrith after Andrew Webster and Cameron Ciraldo left, contributing to two premierships and significantly advancing the Samoa national team.
Meninga emphasized the importance of building a sustainable club foundation by having "the right people in the right spots." This comment reflects his vision for the Bears as they prepare for their inaugural season in the league.
