The Perth Bears have announced their intention to engage in discussions with Zac Lomax, the former Parramatta Eels player, if the chance arises.
Recently released from the Eels, Lomax had been strongly associated with the postponed R360 competition but is now exploring opportunities in rugby union across Australia, Japan, or France.
Some reports suggest Lomax is aiming for a position on the Wallabies team ahead of the 2027 World Cup, and he has confirmed a recent tour of the Western Force's facilities.
As Lomax considers his future, Peter V'Landys, the chairman of the Australian Rugby League Commission, has indicated that the NRL would be open to his return if he signs a contract.
However, complications may arise due to a clause in Lomax's contract with the Eels, preventing him from joining a rival club until 2029, when his contract was initially set to end.
Regardless of these challenges, head coach Mal Meninga expressed a willingness to speak with Lomax if the situation permits. "I see the chairman Peter V'Landys made a comment that he is welcome back in the game," Meninga said.
