Bears Eye Eels' Sean Russell Replacement

Parramatta Eels junior Sean Russell is emerging as the top contender to succeed Zac Lomax on the right wing for the Eels next season, but rival interest from other clubs may complicate their plans.

Russell's contract runs until the end of 2026 and he is now a key target for the Perth Bears, who are set to join the competition in 2027.

As the Bears prepare for their inaugural season, they are actively seeking experienced NRL players to enhance their roster.

The Eels are eager to keep Russell, especially after Lomax's unexpected exit, making him an essential part of Jason Ryles' strategies.

Nonetheless, the Bears are expected to present a considerably better financial offer in their quest to recruit players ready for first-grade competition.

"There is interest there so Sean has some decisions to make," said Russell's manager, Gavin Orr, in an interview with Wide World of Sports.

In the 2025 season, Russell participated in 20 games for Parramatta, primarily playing as a center but also taking on wing duties when needed.
