In a thrilling Rugby League encounter, the Sydney Roosters suffered a disappointing defeat at the hands of the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the Jersey Flegg Cup Semi-Final.

Despite the valiant efforts of hooker Alan Holten and fullback Owen Flaherty, the Bulldogs proved to be the stronger team on the day.

They ran in five unanswered tries, sweeping away the Minor Premiers.

The Bulldogs took the lead for the first time in the contest through a slick left edge move, finished off acrobatically by Mazzone who went on to score a second try just seven minutes later.

Joash Papalii converted both tries, making the score 10-6 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The Roosters tried to mount a comeback with a barnstorming run from prop Taylor Losalu, but the Bulldogs defense held strong, denying them a try.

Just before half-time, Luke Smith scored for the Bulldogs after some clever play out of dummy half by Joash Papalii.

Papalii converted the try, extending their lead to 10 points.

In the second half, Mazzone completed his hat-trick with another sensational finish in the corner, courtesy of a short ball from centre Danny Gabrael.

This try made the score 20-6 in favor of the Bulldogs.
