The 2023 Paul Broughton Medal, which recognizes the top player in rugby league, will be announced on Wednesday night.

Many contenders are vying for this prestigious award.

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui is considered the frontrunner by fans, but other players have also proven themselves worthy of consideration in 2023.

One such player is AJ Brimson, whose season had its ups and downs due to injuries.

However, when he was on the field, Brimson was unstoppable and even earned a recall to the Maroons line-up for Game III.

Although Brimson primarily played at fullback, a late season switch saw him excel in the centres, potentially becoming a long-term option under coach Des Hasler.

This switch also allowed for Jayden Campbell's full-time inclusion.

Brimson's best game of 2023 is hard to pinpoint, as he had several consistent performances throughout the year.

However, his Round 17 performance against the Broncos, where he had 173 meters and seven tackle breaks, stands out.

Unfortunately, Brimson's chances of winning the top award may be affected by the number of matches he missed due to injury.
