Australia's Jillaroos rout England amid injury concerns

The Wrap: World Cup Women's Round 2

Fiji moved closer to a first Women's World Cup semi-final after beating Papua New Guinea 40-4 in Port Moresby.

The Bulikula led 30-4 at half-time, then kept the Orchids scoreless after the break. Fiji face France on the Gold Coast on Saturday, with victory likely to secure qualification.

Australia have already booked a semi-final place, becoming the first team to qualify after a 78-0 defeat of England.

Jocelyn Kelleher scored twice and kicked nine goals for 26 points, while 11 Jillaroos crossed for tries. Julia Robinson injured her arm during the first half.

Australia will play their semi-final at Allianz Stadium on Sunday, November 8, in a double-header with the Kangaroos.

New Zealand strengthened their prospects with a 92-0 win over France at a sold-out One NZ Stadium. Apii Nicholls scored four tries, while Stacey Waaka and Mele Hufanga each scored three.

The Kiwi Ferns can finish the group stage unbeaten by beating Papua New Guinea next Saturday and are almost certain to reach the semi-finals.

Samoa beat Wales 76-0 on Friday, with debutant Tyra Ekepati scoring a hat-trick. Pauline Piliae-Rasabale kicked 10 goals, a national record for most goals in a game.

Samoa will meet England at WIN Stadium in Week 3, with a semi-final spot at stake.

England players Keara Bennett and Lucie Sams each received a Grade 1 Dangerous Throw charge. An early guilty plea brought a warning; each was given a one-match ban after being found guilty at a panel.
