Gallagher Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga has announced the 21-man squad for the upcoming 2023 Pacific Championships.

The team includes four debutants and eight grand finalists.

Among the rookies are Selwyn Cobbo, Thomas Flegler, and Kotoni Staggs from the Broncos, who will be participating in their first Kangaroos campaign.

They will be joined by their teammates Payne Haas and Patrick Carrigan.

The squad also features three-time premiership-winners Nathan Cleary, Isaah Yeo, and Liam Martin, who were part of the Kangaroos' successful World Cup victory last November.

Meninga has decided to retain 16 players from that winning squad for the Pacific Championships.

Another debutant in the squad is Dolphins fullback Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, who previously played centre for Queensland in their Origin series win earlier this year.

James Tedesco will continue to captain the team, with Lindsay Collins from the Roosters serving as his teammate and vice-captain.

Ben Hunt from the Dragons is expected to share the hooking role with Harry Grant from the Storm, just as they did in last year's World Cup campaign.

Meninga expressed his satisfaction with the squad, highlighting the combination of experienced players and those who have performed well at the club and state level in 2023.

The Pacific Championships will commence on October 14.
