Ethan Strange was a key player in the Australian Prime Minister's XIII, which secured a 28-10 victory over Papua New Guinea in their annual match held in Port Moresby.

Australia displayed a strong performance, scoring seven tries compared to Papua New Guinea's two, though the game lacked in excitement for the large crowd at the National Football Stadium.

Trai Fuller, positioned on the wing, had a standout first half with a hat trick and ultimately scored four tries. The local team also faced challenges in containing players like Jai Gray, Bradman Best, and Tallis Duncan.

In a related announcement, it was revealed that the incoming NRL franchise for Papua New Guinea will be called the Chiefs. Prime Minister James Marape disclosed that this name was the result of a fan competition that received over 20,000 entries.

The Chiefs are anticipated to join the NRL starting from the 2028 season.

New Australian coach Kevin Walters noted Strange's performance during Sunday's match as a highlight, particularly given his recognition as the Dally M five-eighth of the year. Strange primarily played at right centre, showcasing his capability to adapt to different roles if needed for the Kangaroos in the upcoming Ashes tour.
