Kevin Walters and former Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga have praised Mitchell Moses, with Walters indicating that Moses will likely be one of the halves for the upcoming Aussie tour of England. The Eels showcased one of their standout performances against the Roosters, winning 30-10 under new coach Jason Ryles, which hindered the Roosters' bid for a top-eight finish.

Moses was at his instrumental best against the Roosters, playing a pivotal role in the victory. The match was notably affected by Roosters halfback Sam Walker's departure due to concussion protocols, but Moses shone brightly, scoring a try, assisting another, and kicking nearly 600 meters throughout the game.

The NSW Blues felt the absence of Moses after he was injured post-Game 1, losing the following two matches without him. However, since his return in Round 21, Moses has revitalized the Eels, who have now clinched three of their last five games.

Among those victories were notable wins against top-eight teams, including the Brisbane Broncos and the Roosters. When in form like he was against the Roosters, Moses appears to be the most formidable halfback in the competition as of 2025.

Walters has taken notice, expressing admiration for Moses after the match. He mentioned in passing that Moses is likely to be one of the halves on the Ashes tour, which is set at the end of the season for the series against England. "Just make sure that passport is up to date to," Walters said to a smiling Moses, who responded, "It's ready to go mate."

Meninga, now the new coach for the Perth Bears, shared his insights with Walters, indicating that both Nathan Cleary and Moses should be included in the Australian squad heading to England. "He is up there," Meninga remarked when asked by Braith Anasta if Moses is currently the best halfback in the game.
