Atkinson ready for more action after first chance at five-eighth

Sharks debutant Daniel Atkinson is ready to take on more action after getting his first taste of playing five-eighth in the NRL.

The rookie admitted that he had considered switching positions to prop in order to get more game time, as he had only seen 19 minutes on the field since his debut last year.

In a display that steered the ladder-leading Sharks to a convincing 40-0 victory against the Raiders, Atkinson partnered with Nicho Hynes in the halves and put on an 80-minute performance.

This felt like a 'real debut' for the 23-year-old, who had previously been used as a utility player coming off the bench or filling in as the 18th man.

Atkinson's versatility and solid performance have not gone unnoticed, and he is poised to make the most of his opportunities in the team.

The young gun is ready to step up and prove himself in the top grade, taking on whatever role is needed to contribute to the success of the Sharks.
