Former Melbourne Storm enforcer Nelson Asofa-Solomona has spoken out regarding his exit from the club, discussing his future plans, mental health, and the possibility of joining the Parramatta Eels.

Asofa-Solomona, who left the Storm last month while still under contract for another two years, has decided to take some time off to reconnect with his passion for the sport after a tumultuous couple of years.

"I just need a bit of time off," he told the Daily Telegraph.

"It's been a crazy past couple of years. I think I need to find a bit of joy back into the game… back into my game."

The 29-year-old expressed uncertainty about his next steps, whether it would be in the NRL, rugby union, or even stepping away from sports altogether. Nonetheless, he has not dismissed the idea of reuniting with Jason Ryles, who is now the head coach of the Eels.

"I'm not going to say no (to that idea)," Asofa-Solomona said.

"I've obviously got a really good relationship with Rylesy."
