Asofa-Solomona Chooses Boxing Over NRL Offers

Nelson Asofa-Solomona, a New Zealand international and former front-rower for the Melbourne Storm, has made a significant decision regarding his future by opting to pursue a career in boxing.

After being released by the Storm over two months ago, Asofa-Solomona's future appeared uncertain, with speculations linking him to three different sports: boxing, rugby league, and rugby union.

Despite interest from seven NRL clubs, including the Parramatta Eels and New Zealand Warriors, news.com.au reports that he has chosen to sign a full-time professional boxing contract.

This decision comes in light of the R360 saga being postponed for another two years, pushing it to 2028. It is also known that he received offers from both Super League and Super Rugby.

"I just need a bit of time off. It's been a crazy past couple of years," he mentioned to News Corp last month.

He added, "I think I need to find a bit of joy back into the game ... back into my game. If I was to stay in rugby league, I'd probably try and find a place where I can enjoy my football again.

"That's pretty much what it is ... just trying to find the love for something."

While there has been no official comment from his management regarding his future plans, Asofa-Solomona has previously expressed his desire to return to competitive boxing.
