Leeds Rhinos' sporting director Ian Blease recently discussed the future of head coach Brad Arthur on the Sky Sports rugby league podcast, expressing some uncertainty about his tenure.
Blease stated, "I'm 6.5/10 Brad Arthur will stay," indicating ongoing discussions to secure Arthur's position for the next season.
When questioned by podcast hosts Jon Wilkin and Jenna Brooks regarding Arthur's future, Blease highlighted that Arthur, who has two sons playing in the NRL, has openly considered returning to Australia to be closer to his family and continue coaching there.
He emphasized the open communication between them, saying, "We work next door to each other and we see each other every day and we've been open and honest with each other from day one."
Blease acknowledged Arthur's mixed feelings, noting, "I know where he's at...
he has shared his thoughts about going back to Australia." Although it's uncertain if Arthur will leave, Blease reassured that Arthur is "keen to stay here? Yes, probably." However, he noted that Arthur's situation can change frequently, especially considering the recent absence of the Perth job, which had been a potential consideration for the coach.
In summary, Blease conveyed a cautious optimism regarding Arthur's future with the Rhinos, while also recognizing the coach's personal aspirations and the fluid nature of his decision-making.
