'I'd like a conversation': Arthur confirms interest in England job

Leeds coach Brad Arthur has expressed his interest in becoming the head coach for England's World Cup team, clarifying that he is not looking to take on a role as an assistant.

After Shaun Wane announced his departure following last year's 3-0 Ashes series defeat, numerous candidates have emerged for the open men's coaching position. This list includes notable names like Sam Burgess, James Graham, Willie Peters, Michael Maguire, Paul Rowley, among others.

Having previously coached the Eels, Arthur was posed the question about his interest in the position after his team's victory over newly promoted Bradford during a pre-season match at Headingley on Saturday.

He was also inquired about the prospect of collaborating with other Super League coaches, including Hull KR's Peters.

England is set to launch their World Cup campaign against Tonga in Perth on October 17, followed by matches against France on October 24 and Papua New Guinea in Wollongong on October 30.
