"I must admit, I was a bit embarrassed when my son showed me the video," Klemmer said.
"I let my emotions get the best of me in the heat of the moment.
It wasn't a good look."
The Tigers' victory over the Eels was hard fought, with both teams giving it their all until the final whistle.
Gutherson's missed penalty goal was the turning point of the match, and Klemmer couldn't resist a cheeky dig at the Eels skipper.
"It was a real nail-biter, but we managed to pull through in the end," Klemmer added.
"Clint had a tough break with that kick, but hey, that's footy for you."
Klemmer's apology shows that even the toughest players can have a moment of reflection and humility.
He knows that sportsmanship is important, even in the heat of battle on the footy field.
"I've learnt my lesson and I'll be more mindful of my actions in the future," Klemmer said.
"I just got caught up in the excitement of the game, but I know I need to show respect to my opponents, no matter the result."
With the NRL season heating up, Klemmer's apology is a timely reminder that winning isn't everything - it's how you play the game that truly matters.
And as the Tigers continue their winning streak under the leadership of Benji Marshall, Klemmer knows that teamwork and sportsmanship will always be the keys to success in Rugby League.
