The lackluster TV ratings for the NRL's Vegas venture show that the American audience is not yet embracing Rugby League with open arms.
It seems like the NRL's gamble on Sin City has not paid off just yet, as only a fraction of viewers tuned in for the highly anticipated matches.
The NRL's hopes of cracking the American market and increasing their television audience seem to be a long shot at this stage.
As they say in the sporting world, it's a marathon, not a sprint, and the NRL will need to put in the hard yards to gain traction in the US.
Perhaps they need to go back to the drawing board and come up with a new game plan to tackle the challenging American sports market.
