Allan Langer has broken his silence on the decision to switch gears at the Brisbane Broncos, revealing that it was his call to step away from his role as a trainer and dive into a new position working closely with the club's corporate partners.

A true legend of the Broncos, Langer has been a familiar face as an assistant coach and trainer at the Brisbane club for quite some time.

The departure of his close friend and former coach, Kevin Walters, threw Langer's future at the club into uncertainty, ultimately leading to his move away from the football department.

Speculation had been rife that new coach Michael Maguire had a hand in Langer's departure, looking to inject some fresh blood into the struggling team.

However, Langer set the record straight, asserting that it was simply time for a change.

"After a season filled with challenges, I felt the need for a new challenge," Langer revealed.

"I had a chat with Dave and made it clear that given the circumstances, it was the right moment for me to switch things up.

"This new role promises a fresh and thrilling experience.

Over the past three decades, I've built strong relationships with the Broncos' partners, corporates, and members, and I've always cherished those interactions.

It also means more quality time with my family, especially my grandkids, which holds great significance for me."

In true Langer fashion, the rugby league icon remains upbeat about the future and excited for the next chapter in his career with the Broncos.
