Alick-Wiencke Nears Deal After Titans Departure

Jacob Alick-Wiencke, a forward who was one of eight players bid farewell by the Gold Coast Titans during their end-of-season awards night, is reportedly nearing a contract with a new team for the 2026 season.

Having represented Papua New Guinea ten times internationally, Alick-Wiencke was released by the Titans after appearing in 19 matches over three seasons, including eight during the 2025 campaign.

While he spent much of his time competing in the Queensland Cup, Alick-Wiencke has maintained a consistent presence on the international stage for the Kumuls, and he could potentially reunite with teammates Edwin Ipape and Lachlan Lam at the club level.

Currently without a contract for the upcoming season, Alick-Wiencke appears set to join the Leigh Leopards in the Super League, with the team, coached by Adrian Lam, reportedly close to finalizing the signing, according to All Out Rugby League.

This development follows former Manly Sea Eagles forward Ben Condon's failure to pass a medical examination after agreeing to join the Leopards.

Alick-Wiencke's connection to the Super League isn't new; he was previously on the verge of signing with Hull FC prior to the 2024 season, only to receive an extension from the Titans instead.

"Probably a bit biased in that sense but I love Lammy [Lachlan Lam]. He's a great fella off the field and absolutely killing it on the field."
