Wests Tigers star Adam Doueihi has been taken to the hospital following a serious injury during Sunday's match against the North Queensland Cowboys.

The incident occurred when Doueihi attempted to tackle Jason Taumalolo, leading to an awkward collision with the powerful front rower.

After remaining on the ground for some time, medical staff assisted him off the field.

Doueihi was initially brought to the sheds for a Head Injury Assessment and was diagnosed with a Category Two head knock, which typically allows for a potential return to play.

However, this assessment changed when it was reported on Fox League that the 27-year-old had sustained fractures surrounding his eye socket and cheekbone.

He has since been rushed to the hospital for further evaluation of his injuries.

More details to come.
