titans.com.au are reporting that the Hostplus Cup openers have been rescheduled due to the impending arrival of Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Queensland Rugby League have confirmed the changes in this weekend's fixtures, with some adjustments being made in light of the expected impacts of the cyclone.

Despite the Gold Coast Titans having a Round 1 NRL bye, a number of players were set to hit the field for Ipswich and Tweed in their season openers.

However, Jets fans will have to wait patiently as their match against the Townsville Blackhawks has been postponed to May 10.

The clash between the Seagulls and Wynnum-Manly has also been moved to Sunday, March 9, pending final approval to ensure the safety of all involved.

The QRL and clubs will be keeping a close eye on the weather and field conditions leading up to the rescheduled matches.

In addition to these changes, other statewide competition games have also been postponed as a precautionary measure.

As they say in the game of Rugby League, sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and adapt to the unpredictable nature of the sport.

This is all part and parcel of the game, with weather disruptions being a common occurrence throughout the history of the game.

But rest assured, fans can expect some exciting on-field action once the games are back on track.
