Mikey Lewis is in contention for the prestigious 2025 Steve Prescott MBE Man of Steel award, marking a potential historic moment in Super League history.
According to skysports.com, Lewis, last year's awardee, has showcased another outstanding season. He played a pivotal role in leading Hull KR to the play-offs and earning their first League Leaders' Shield.
If he successfully defends his title, the 24-year-old will become just the fourth player to win the award multiple times since its launch in 1977, and only the second to win consecutively, following Paul Sculthorpe's wins in 2001 and 2002.
Lewis will face stiff competition from Wigan Warriors' full-back Jai Field and Leeds Rhinos' stand-off Jake Connor. The 28-year-old Field, an Australian international, significantly contributed to the defending Super League champions' success, ensuring they secured a top-two finish in the regular season to reach the play-offs.
On the other hand, Connor has thrived after his unexpected departure from Huddersfield Giants, leading Leeds to their first top-four finish in eight years.
The Super League play-off Eliminators are set for September 27, featuring Leeds against St Helens. Meanwhile, Hull KR and Wigan Warriors will begin their play-off journeys in the first weekend of October, having earned direct progression to the semi-finals with their top-two standings.
