Reuben Cotter, the rugged warrior on the field and gentle giant off it, has been named the 2024 Philips Sports Dad of the Year by the folks over at the Cowboys headquarters.

Cotter, who recently became a father for the second time with the birth of his son Banks in June, alongside his daughter Sunny, took some time off with his lovely wife Mackenzie to recharge before the grueling play-offs season.

With a steely focus on leading the Cowboys into their first-ever finals series, Cotter showed his true sportsmanship by generously matching the $5,000 prize money, which will be donated to his chosen charity, the Brighter Lives Foundation in Townsville.

Thanks to Cotter's win, the foundation will now receive a total of $10,000, making a real difference in the community.

After a thrilling 38-30 victory over the Storm last Thursday night, where Cotter's grit and determination shone through, the Cowboys' hopes for a shot at a home finals match are still alive and kicking.

But for Cotter, success on the field is just one aspect of his life; spending the weekend with his young family is what truly fills his heart with joy.

As the Cowboys gear up for the challenges ahead, Cotter's leadership and strength will undoubtedly be a driving force for the team.

With his eyes set on the ultimate prize, Cotter is ready to tackle whatever obstacles come their way, both on and off the field.

With the support of his fellow Cowboys and his unwavering determination, there's no stopping this sports dad from making history in the world of Rugby League.
