It's that time of year again, folks.

The NRL's version of the Oscars, the Dally M Awards, is just around the corner.

And legendary commentator Phil Gould is not holding back on his disappointment that one outstanding player has allegedly been snubbed for a shiny gong.

The 2024 Dally M Awards are set to kick off this Wednesday night, with all the glitz and glamour that comes with it.

Melbourne Storm maestro Jahrome Hughes is the fancy favorite to take home the coveted Dally M, despite being behind in the race when the votes went behind closed doors after round 12.

But as we all know in this game, anything can happen in the final stretch.

Just like a classic comeback story in the dying moments of a thrilling match, Kalyn Ponga came from behind last year to snatch the Dally M crown.

Could Hughes pull off a similar feat and surge to victory in the final moments of the season? Only time will tell.

And let's not forget about the man, the myth, the legend, Nathan Cleary.

Despite his undeniable talents, injuries, State of Origin commitments, and a well-rounded Penrith team have conspired to keep him from claiming that elusive Dally M Medal.

But with his Panthers comrades Dylan Edwards and Isaah Yeo hot on his heels in the leaderboard, anything can happen on the night.

So grab your popcorn, sit back, and enjoy the drama unfold as the best of the best in the NRL battle it out for the ultimate prize.

It's going to be a night to remember, full of twists and turns, surprises, and maybe even a fair share of controversy.

Let the games begin!
