The Canberra Raiders have strapped on their negotiating boots and hit the ground running as they enter talks for contract extensions with young guns Xavier Savage and Kaeo Weekes.

Both players are set to be free agents at the end of the 2025 NRL season, giving them the opportunity to test the waters and explore potential deals with rival teams from November 1.

But the Raiders are not about to sit back and watch their star players slip through their fingers like a slippery ball.

The Canberra Times has reported that the club is keen to secure both Savage and Weekes for the long haul, and are pushing to get the deals signed before the buzzer sounds.

"We've had a few chats with their representatives," revealed recruitment guru Joel Carbone.

"We're in talks to lock them in for a few more seasons beyond their current agreements."

In the high-stakes world of Rugby League contracts, every move counts and the Raiders are determined to keep their winning team intact.

As the deadline looms, fans brace themselves for the rollercoaster ride of negotiations and hope for a victorious outcome for their beloved team.
