The Newcastle Knights NRLW have secured the services of New Zealand international centre Shanice Parker, despite interest from the New Zealand Warriors NRLW.

Parker, who previously expressed a desire to stay in Newcastle, has signed a contract extension until the end of the 2028 NRLW season.

Since joining the Knights in 2022 from the Sydney Roosters NRLW, Parker has played in 28 games and helped the team claim consecutive premierships in 2022 and 2023.

Coach Ben Jeffries praised Parker's contributions, stating, "Shanice has been highly influential since her arrival at the Knights." He highlighted her international experience and championship-winning pedigree, noting that she has earned the respect of her teammates, coaches, and the wider Hunter community.

Despite the temptation of playing for her home country's team, Parker's decision to extend her stay in Newcastle underscores her commitment to the Knights and her desire to continue making a positive impact on the team.

The move ensures the Knights will benefit from Parker's skill and leadership for the foreseeable future, as they strive to build on their recent success and maintain their status as a strong contender in the NRLW competition.
