The Parramatta Eels are set to part ways with their captain Clint Gutherson, effective immediately, as talks with the Dragons heat up.
Gutherson, a key player for the Eels, has reportedly been granted an early release from his contract, paving the way for a three-year deal with the Dragons.
According to reports from the Sydney Morning Herald and the Daily Telegraph, the Eels board made the decision to honor Gutherson's request to leave the club during a meeting on Wednesday night.
This move comes after incoming coach Jason Ryles gave Gutherson the green light to explore opportunities with other teams for the 2026 season.
Although the Eels have yet to officially confirm Gutherson's departure, it is widely expected that he will be linking up with Shane Flanagan and the Dragons in 2025.
While another club has shown interest in the 30-year-old player, it appears that the Dragons are in pole position to secure his services in the upcoming season.
