The Canberra Raiders are reportedly set to confirm the signing of Sione Finau, a winger from St George Illawarra Dragons, despite previous complications in the deal.
According to reports from zerotackle.com, Finau has been in discussions with the Raiders for several weeks.
The delay in the Dragons re-signing Finau has allowed the promising young player, who made his debut at the end of 2023 and has played additional games since, the opportunity to negotiate with other teams.
However, talks had seemingly stalled when news of Finau touring Raiders facilities leaked, which reportedly infuriated coach Ricky Stuart, leading to the suspension of negotiations.
Now, ahead of the upcoming match between the Dragons, who will be without Finau due to a shoulder injury, and the Raiders, reports from News Corp indicate that the deal is back on track.
Finau is expected to sign a three-year contract to join the Raiders in Canberra.
