In a crushing blow for the St George Illawarra Dragons, two key players have been ruled out for the season, adding to the team's injury woes ahead of their upcoming clash against the Canterbury Bulldogs.
Dan Lawson, the Dragons' Physical Performance Manager, delivered the devastating news through the club's website, providing updates on Ben Murdoch-Masila, Sione Finau, Jesse Marschke, and Fa'amanu Brown.
Murdoch-Masila, who is currently off-contract and facing an uncertain future, underwent surgery for a serious foot injury known as "a Lisfranc injury", sidelining him for the remainder of the season.
This could potentially be his last game in the Dragons jersey.
Finau, who was recently playing in the NSW Cup, suffered a hamstring injury that is expected to keep him out of action for the rest of the year.
However, there is a silver lining as Lawson confirmed that Marschke and Brown will be back in contention for selection next week after bouncing back from their own hamstring setbacks.
The Dragons will need to dig deep and rally together in the face of adversity, as they prepare to take on the Bulldogs in what is sure to be a fierce battle on the field.
With these setbacks, the team will need to show true grit and determination to overcome the challenges that lie ahead and emerge victorious.
