"The Canterbury Bulldogs have hit out at a small contingent of their own fan base for their unruly behavior towards a Canberra Raiders supporter on Sunday evening.
After a hard-fought victory over the Raiders, Belmore was transformed into a raucous celebration for Bulldogs supporters who took to the streets to show their allegiance to the club.
However, the festivities took a dark turn as footage surfaced of a Raiders fan being aggressively confronted by a group of Bulldogs fans.
In a statement released the following day, the Bulldogs expressed their 'deep concern' over the incident and announced that they are conducting an internal investigation.
"The Bulldogs are deeply concerned about an incident involving fan behavior towards a supporter of the opposing team that took place yesterday following the Round 22 clash against the Canberra Raiders at Belmore Sports Ground," the Bulldogs stated.
It is imperative that sports supporters uphold a code of conduct and respect for all fans, regardless of their team allegiances.
The Bulldogs have a rich history of sportsmanship and fair play, and we expect nothing less from the passionate fan base.
In the spirit of the game, let us strive to support the team with passion and enthusiasm, while also showing respect to the fellow sports enthusiasts.
Let's keep the focus on the game and leave the rough stuff on the field."
