Broncos Need New Strategy for Grand Final Win

The Brisbane Broncos have emerged as the NRL's comeback kings during the 2025 finals series.

Their victory against the Canberra Raiders in the qualifying final was not a knockout match, yet it felt like one after an intense 94 minutes in the nation's capital.

The Raiders learned this harsh lesson just six days later when they hosted the Cronulla Sharks at home and suffered a loss.

In this clash, the Raiders had the game within their grasp three times, even holding a 16-point lead in the second half at one point.

The Broncos initially struggled, allowing the Raiders to take a six-point lead into halftime. The Raiders extended this lead with two tries at the start of the second half.

It took a masterclass from Reece Walsh, who made a comeback after a stint in the sin bin for a headbutt, to lift the Broncos from adversity and lead them past the Raiders.

The week off proved beneficial for the Broncos, enabling players Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam to fully recover. They faced the Penrith Panthers on home turf last Sunday, aiming to secure a spot in the grand final and pursue the club's first title since 2006.
