Trent Barrett is eager for Parramatta to finalize their new coach in order to secure the commitment of star recruit Zac Lomax for the 2025 season.
With the Eels facing a tumultuous season, the caretaker coach is adamant that a decision needs to be made soon.
Barrett, who was left in the dark about his own future at the club until Wednesday, is pushing for transparency to ensure that Lomax, a talented NSW State of Origin player, remains committed to joining Parramatta next year.
The Parramatta board met on Tuesday night to discuss potential replacements for current coach Brad Arthur, with Barrett, Jason Ryles, Josh Hannay, and Dean Young all in contention.
The board is expected to wait until after the upcoming match against South Sydney on Thursday before making any official announcements, but Barrett is urging for a speedy resolution.
"I think it's important for everyone involved, the club and the players," Barrett remarked.
"The players are handling the situation well, they're professionals who know how to focus on their game despite the uncertainties off the field."
Barrett's plea for clarity reflects the urgency of the situation, as Parramatta aims to stabilize their coaching structure and secure the future of their promising recruits.
In the rough and tumble world of Rugby League, decisions must be made swiftly and decisively to ensure success on and off the field.
